BOYS:

B8E scored 7 goals. Their opponent,White Plains, scored 1.

B9W beat B9E 6-3. West’s goals were scored by Joshua M (2), Theodor M (2), Tomasso D and Oscar K.

B10W took on the  LMFC Red Knights and came away with a 5-4 victory.

From our correspondent: After a solid start to the match, B11W had a tough go of it the rest of the way against the LMFC Red Gunners at Jacob Schiff Playground.  In the first five minutes of the match, our team was moving well and the hard work paid off with a great goal off a booming shot by Alex from outside the box that was fed by a cross by Tam.  Unfortunately, we had trouble maintaining our possession from there.  LMFC played a very physical style that eventually wore us down as they picked up 4 goals before halftime.  Throughout the season, our team has shown a lot of character in picking up our play after tough stretches and the effort was there in the second half.  We had a bunch of great chances in and around the box but were stymied by good goalkeeping and a couple tough bounces.  LMFC was able to score twice more off of deep shots that were difficult to handle in the high winds for the final score.  Despite today’s result, our team has a lot to be proud of this season as we finished with a 5-3-1 record that will place us in no worse than a tie for second in our division and we celebrated with a fun team outing after the game.  It’s too bad we don’t have another game on our schedule as we consistently showed the ability to play our best after tough results so we’ll just have to carry that through to the spring. ”

B11E beat the Riverdale Jaguars  3-1.

B14W responded well to a two goal deficit and tied the Edgemont Cyclones 2-2

Boys JV lost 4-1 to the LMFC Red Hawks.

GIRLS:

G9E edged Scarsdale Lazio 3-2.

G10W won 4-3 versus Rivertown United G10, ending the season on a great performance! The four goals were spread between two attackers (Gillian and Riya) and our two defenders (Leela and Alexandra), showing balance and engagement all across the field. Meital was a defensive block in goal, getting the shut out for the first half! And all the girls did great in the tough conditions: cold, windy, and a wet muddy field. It all added up to a lot of fun, punctuated by a team pizza party to celebrate the great season!

G10W

On this brutally cold day,  the G11W beat the Eastchester Red Dragons, 2-1, at home at Jacob Schiff.  Playing perhaps their best match of the fall season, every single girl played hard with lots of great passing, teamwork, wonderful goalkeeping, strong offense and defense, and consistent intensity and sustained effort from all.
Our G11W correspondent writes, “The team ends the fall season in THIRD PLACE out of 40 teams in their Division, which is the top WYSL division.  I would add that we are the only team in the top 4 of our grouping with a mean sportsmanship rating of 9.0 (the top score) – which speaks volumes about they way our girls play as well.  They are a lovely team.”

G13W lost to the V Rye Brook Crush 6-3. Scoring for Red Bulls: Amy (2) and Michelle

Thanks for Mia & Rose for playing with us.  The girls played tough, coming back from 4-1 at the end of the first half.
G13N lost 3-0 to Chappaqua on Randall’s 72. The girls posed for the photo below under the RFK Bridge after the game.

Our G14N correspondent writes, “In our last match of the fall season, G14 North took the field at Riverdale against DUSC G2004 Blue in our second Westchester Cup match of the year.  Last Sunday, we outplayed our opponent but didn’t take advantage of our opportunities which opened us up to a comeback.  Today’s match proved that our team took the lessons learned from that game to heart.  From the opening whistle, our team played skillfully and energetically showing that once again we were the stronger side.  Despite our possession advantage and a greater number of quality chances, we headed into halftime scoreless.  In a demonstration of great character and development, our players came out with even more energy in the second half and pressed the play in our attacking half for almost the entire half.  We easily had a half dozen decent shots on goal before we finally broke through in the 64th minute when Yoyo put one in the back of the net (with Stella getting the assist).  By increasing the pressure and not letting our opponent break through on a fluky play or otherwise, we were able to get the victory and stay undefeated in Westchester Cup play.  Under the skillful tutelage of Coach Steve, our team has shown significant improvement since early September.  We have been challenged against older and very talented opponents at times but the girls have stayed focused throughout.  They are looking forward to continuing on that positive trajectory through the winter and into the spring.”

Girls Varsity 2000 lost to New Rochelle 6-1. Denika scored the lone  goal and was woman of the match with Molly.
